This whole situation is a little odd: Fox has canceled "9-1-1", but ABC is picking it up for a seventh season.
However, Fox did NOT cancel "9-1-1: Lonestar". They're bringing it back for a fifth season.
The original "9-1-1" has been one of the most popular shows on Fox. But back in 2019, Disney acquired 21st Century Fox's film and TV assets, meaning the Fox Network no longer had as big a financial stake in it.
And it's an expensive show to produce. So it made more sense for Fox to let it go.

Television and movie writers are now on strike. The first thing you will notice is late night shows will have reruns.
Nearly 12,000 of the people responsible for writing the shows and movies we stream, watch on air, and see in the theater have walked off the job, the first strike since 2008.
WGA said in a statement. “From their refusal to guarantee any level of weekly employment in episodic television, to the creation of a ‘day rate’ in comedy variety, to their stonewalling on free work for screenwriters and on AI for all writers, they have closed the door on their labor force and opened the door to writing as an entirely freelance profession.
At issue is how writers are compensated in an industry where streaming has changed the rules of Hollywood economics. Writers say they aren’t being paid enough, TV writer rooms have shrunk too much and the old calculus for how residuals are paid out needs to be redrawn.

In a New York Times op-ed, Surgeon General Vivek Murthy wrote that the U.S. needs to focus on its "epidemic of loneliness," and that half of Americans are lonely — including himself. He pointed out that some of the health risks of loneliness, such as depression, anxiety, heart disease, dementia, and stroke, make it comparable to smoking daily. He proposed a three-step process to help with the epidemic: invest in social infrastructure, reconsider how we use technology, and strengthen our personal connections.

On the heels of the success of his hit Netflix series Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Ryan Murphy is gearing up to tell another chilling story — this time about the Menendez Brothers.
Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story is slated for 2024 to get into the story of the brothers who were convicted in 1996 of murdering their parents. Netflix made the announcement on Monday in a video lasting longer than a minute that features one of the brothers placing the 911 call and telling the dispatcher that someone had killed his mother and father.
