A "historic day" for the books—astronauts aboard the latest deep-space mission have officially broken the record for the farthest distance traveled from Earth by humans. They are pushing the boundaries of the "final frontier" further than ever before.
Even as they set records, they want there to be more - "we, most importantly, choose this moment to challenge this generation and the next to make sure this record is not long-lived.”

The average cost of driving a car has hit $965 per month, based on 15,000 miles a year. This includes the cost of fuel, tires, insurance, maintenance, licenses, financing, and depreciation. This does not include the car payment. Costs vary a lot by vehicle type: small sedans are closer to about $700 per month, while large pickups can run $1,200+ per month.

Sportsnet reported before the start of the third period that a woman went into labor on the seventh floor of the Oilers’ home barn.
A new life coming into the world was the only bright spot for Oilers fans on Saturday. The Knights won 5-1 against their division rivals in the final game of their regular-season series.
No further details have been given whether it was a boy or a girl. You’d have to think the name will have some variation of Connor or Leon in honor of Edmonton’s stars.
It’s not the first time this has happened at a sporting event. A woman gave birth in 2015 while at a San Diego Padres-San Francisco Giants baseball game in Petco Park.
The baby boy was born around the third inning. Fortunately, one of the on-staff nurses at the ballpark was also a midwife.

If your New Year's resolutions have already fallen by the wayside, here's a simple trick to get back on track. Financial experts are promoting "The $27.39 Rule"—saving that amount every day for a year adds up to $10,000 . If daily saving feels daunting, break it down: $191.73 per week or $833.33 per month.
The key is to treat savings as a non-negotiable expense. As Warren Buffett famously said: "Do not save what is left after spending; instead spend what is left after saving"

I wish this was true.

A Florida woman in Jacksonville was arrested after climbing a tree while wearing a squirrel costume and pelting police officers with acorns, according to reports.
She declared herself the "squirrel queen." She refused to come down and claimed the area as her territory.

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - The first mechanical alarm clock, invented by Levi Hutchins in 1787, could only ring at 4:00 AM. He invented it specifically to make sure he never slept past his own wake-up time; he didn't think anyone else would need a different setting. (guess you would have to set it to the wrong time to have it go off on at the right time!)
