Sunday is Drowsy Awareness Day
They say "look out for the other guy" when you're driving . . . because he might be napping.
April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. And a poll for it found one in seven Americans have fallen asleep at the wheel before. 14% admitted it's happened at least once.
Here are the top four things we do to stay awake . . .
1. Drink something with caffeine. 63% do it when feeling tired behind the wheel.
2. Crank the RADIO, 62%.
3. Roll down a window or blast the A/C, 58%.
4. Talk to someone on the phone, 28%.
59% said they DO pull over to rest sometimes, which is what you SHOULD do.
And you'll be thrilled to know that most people say they'd NEVER drive distracted.
In a survey, 74% of Americans claim they've never touched their phone while driving over the past year. (sure)
Other people do it, though. 65% of people say they see OTHER drivers using their phones behind the wheel, at least a couple times a week.
89% say they witness speeding at least a couple times a week . . . 60% see people speeding through school zones . . . and 67% witness red light running at least once a month.
63% of Americans think that the average driver has gotten WORSE in recent years . . . and 78% think drivers in their state are "reckless." But 65% of people say THEY have never driven distracted in the past year.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that distracted driving was the cause of over 3,000 deaths, and over 400,000 injuries nationwide, in just 2024 alone.

With egg prices so high, will this trend actually take off this year?
"The New York Times" says eggs are so expensive, people are planning to dye POTATOES for Easter.
It's not a new idea. The marketing group Potatoes USA tried to make it a thing in 2023 as food prices were rising.
The "New York Times" story says videos on how to dye or paint potatoes have been trending recently. So it's becoming less of a joke idea, and more of an actual strategy for saving money.

It's expensive to go to most restaurants these days, so it'd be understandable if you asked for a to-go box for the CRUMBS left on your plate. But some people refuse to take ANYTHING home.
In a new survey, 12% of Americans say they don't take food home from restaurants when they don't finish their meal.
37% of people say they're "somewhat likely" to ask for a take home container . . . and 51% say they're DEFINITELY taking it home.
It's similar across all age groups. Middle-aged Gen X'ers and Millennials are slightly more likely to keep their leftovers . . . while Gen Z'ers and Baby Boomers are slightly less likely to take the extra food home.
I don't feel so bad filling up on the "bread" option and then eat half my meal and take the rest home...lunch tomorrow!!!!)

The entire plot of Season 3 of "The White Lotus" came to creator Mike White in a dream. Or, more accurately, a hallucination.
Mike was scouting locations in Thailand when he ended up in the hospital with bronchitis. He says, quote, "They put me on a nebulizer. It was like I'd smoked crack . . . not that I've smoked crack.
"For two days, I did not sleep. I was just lying in a hospital bed, trying to think about what the show was, and it came to me."
Producer David Bernad adds, quote, "I saw Mike the next morning, and he told me what he'd hallucinated. That's basically what we shot."
