The website Gothamist asked New Yorkers to submit their suggestions for "sidewalk etiquette" we ALL should follow. They got more than 400 people to weigh in, and here are some of the most common responses:
1. Keep to the right. Just like you're driving . . . in America, at least . . . stay on the right side to allow for people to walk the opposite direction on your left.
2. Move quickly and never stop. Busy sidewalks operate like highways, and if you're not walking forward at a normal pace with your head up, step aside.
3. Zero hate for seniors. There's a hierarchy on the sidewalks, and SENIORS get the highest priority. Dog walkers are also up there, assuming they're actually walking. Tourists and business people on-the-move are next.
The groups with the lowest priority, who control their own destiny are: Parents with kids (or are pushing strollers) . . . teenagers . . . joggers . . . and people riding things like e-bikes or scooters.
4. Three is a crowd. If you're walking with a group, especially on a narrow sidewalk, walk TWO WIDE or single file. If you are three or more, and you're arm-to-arm . . . it's cool for people to play Red Rover, and walk between you.
5. Don't spit. This seems obvious, but there's no spitting on the sidewalk . . . especially in a city. It's disgusting, and you never know where (or on whom) it'll land.
6. There’s a kinder alternative to shouting “Excuse me!”
Even if you don’t mean it, “excuse me” can easily be interpreted as an insult. One NY'er said she uses I’m so sorry, I just need to get by you,’

Wanna keep that youthful glow? Or at least not look like a REALLY old person yet? Just don't do any of these things. Here are eight bad habits that make us age faster . . .
1. Smoking. More and more studies show vaping is bad for your skin too.
2. Too much sun. Stock up on that sunscreen as we get closer to summer.
3. A bad diet. Processed food and stuff loaded with sugar and saturated fat can make your skin age faster.
4. Not exercising. We lose muscle and bone density as we age. It happens faster if you don't work out.
5. Too much booze. It damages your cells and accelerates the aging process.
6. Chronic stress. Long-term stress limits your body's ability to repair itself.
7. Bad sleep. You'll look younger longer if you make sure you're well-rested.
8. Not brushing your teeth. There might be a link between gingivitis and heart disease. But also, it's also just not a very youthful look to have teeth rotting out of your face.

Who are the biggest ANIMAL stars of all time? MentalFloss.com put together a list of 14 of them. Here are the highlights:
1. Rin Tin Tin. Ask your parents or grandparents about this one. He was a German shepherd who was rescued by an American soldier on a battlefield in France during World War 1. He went on to make 27 movies, starting with "The Man From Hell's River" in 1922. He died in 1932, but other dogs were given the name over the years.
2. Buddy. The star of the 1997 basketball flick "Air Bud". He DIED in 1998, so he was never in any of the sequels.
3. Jimmy the Raven. He has the distinction of having appeared in two bona fide American classics: "The Wizard of Oz" and "It's a Wonderful Life".
4. Higgins the dog. He got his big break on the sitcom "Petticoat Junction" in the '60s. But he reached the height of his fame as the star of 1974's "Benji". He died soon after, and his daughter took over the role in several sequels.
5. Keiko, the orca from "Free Willy". The movie actually brought a lot of attention to the plight of killer whales in captivity. Keiko was released into the wild in 2002, but died the following year.
6. Crystal the capuchin monkey. Possibly the biggest workhorse of the animal kingdom. Crystal got her start in 1997's "George of the Jungle", and just never stopped. She just worked with SPIELBERG in 2022's "The Fablemans".
In between she's done everything from the "Dr. Dolittle" and "Night at the Museum" movies to "The Hangover Part 2", "3:10 to Yuma", "Malcolm in the Middle" and "The Big Bang Theory".
The one gig Crystal did NOT get was Marcel the monkey on "Friends". He was played by two different female capuchins, Katie and . . . Monkey.

A pilot for Polish Airlines proposed over the intercom to his flight attendant girlfriend, and it's all on video. He asked, "Will you marry me?" Then she sprinted down the aisle from the back of the plane to give him a hug. She said, "Of course I will."
(glad she was a flight attendant in the back of the plane..if you know the pilot, you should get preferential seating!)

You never know where you'll meet "the one." A Minnesota couple named Hannah Bullerman and Alec Hoffman started dating after Hannah ordered food, and Alec was her Grubhub driver. Now they're getting married next year.

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - Of the 16.1 million Americans who served during World War Two, there are only around 100,000 who are still remaining.
Five months ago, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs reported that 119,550 WW2 veterans were still with us, but we were losing 131 per day. That puts the current number at about 100,000 . . . who'd now be in their 90s or older.
Thank you, Veterans..of any war.
