April 15 marks National Titanic Remembrance Day, honoring the 1,517 passengers and crew who lost their lives when the RMS Titanic sank in the North Atlantic on this date in 1912. The "unsinkable" ship struck an iceberg on its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York, sinking in just over two and a half hours.
