From TMZ - Neil deGrasse Tyson is amused by Elon Musk and others who think AI technology is a threat to humanity ... he thinks the doomsday bunch are watching too many movies.

We got the famed astrophysicist at LAX Wednesday, and he snickered at Musk, Steve Wozniak and 1,100 others who sounded the alarm in an open letter that AI has become a "dangerous race" that could imperil our very existence ... they want a 6-month moratorium on AI development to assess the risks.

The way Neil sees it ... it's nothing new. We have seen the twists and turns triggered by the technological revolution for more than 100 years. When jobs get replaced by machines, people find new jobs. And here's the big point ... if AI eventually takes over all jobs, we can all go to the beach. After all, going to work is not embedded in our DNA, so society could reimagine how humans live.

The beach vs. work ... so who you rootin' for?

New this weekend at the movies

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves - with Chris Pine, Hugh Grant, and Michelle Rodriguez based on the game.

And it looks like Avatar: The Way of Water shows up at Prime for purchase.

There is a new iPhone update, and that means 31 new Emojis.

The line-up includes new animals such as a donkey, a moose, and a goose; new heart colors, including the much-requested plain pink heart; and other oddities such as a shaking face, and now you can high five as there is a left and a right hand in that position!

Cup Noodles is expanding its flavors to include a breakfast option. The new, limited edition breakfast ramen has flavors of sausage, eggs, maple syrup, and pancakes. The flavor is currently available at Walmart for $1.39.

A new dining experience in New York City is inviting people to a dinner party with strangers, but there's a twist: Clothing is not allowed. It's called the "fude dinner experience." Diners can enjoy "plant based cooking, art, nudity and self love (????). "Anyone who's interested in attending has to fill out an application that includes questions like "are you comfortable being naked in front of others" and "do you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions?" It's $88 dollars a head.

What's happening in April??

In sports, Baseball is back, and the Final Four in the NCAA men's basketball tournament goes down tomorrow with San Diego State vs. Florida Atlantic on one side of the bracket, Miami vs. UConn on the other. Then the championship game is Monday. Don't forget that the Women also wrap up their games this weekend as well.

The Masters golf tournament is next weekend. The NBA and NHL playoffs both start in the middle of the month. And the NFL Draft is at the end of the month.

For movies, the Michael Jordan / Nike movie "Air" hits theaters next Wednesday. "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" also opens that day. Guy Ritchie's "The Covenant" is out April 21st. And "Big George Foreman" comes out April 28th.

On TV, two shows based on classic movies hit Paramount+ this month: "Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies" on April 6th and "Fatal Attraction" on April 30th.

Season 5 of "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" hits Amazon Prime on April 14th. Season 2 of "Mike Judge's Beavis and Butt-Head" returns to Comedy Central and Paramount+ on April 20th. And the CMT Music Awards are this Sunday.

A massive storm canceled Billie Eilish's show in Mexico City on Wednesday night. But she didn't want to send her fans home with nothing.

So she hit the stage in the pouring rain with her brother Finneas and played a mini-acoustic set for them.

She said, quote, "I thought it was stupid for me to leave without coming out saying thank you for being here, and standing in the [effing] pouring rain."

The full show was rescheduled for last night.

Stanford University is offering a new course that's all about a SINGLE Taylor Swift song . . . "All Too Well (Ten Minute Version)".

The original was on her 2012 album "Red". Then she put out the extended version in 2021.

It's part of a special program at Stanford where former students are the teachers. The class is called "All Too Well (Ten WEEK Version)". It'll reportedly focus on "an in-depth analysis" of the lyrics.

Here's a new trend: Would you be more offended if you were driving to work and someone gave you the FINGER . . . or a THUMBS DOWN?

Young people are supposedly ditching the bird, and giving drivers a thumbs down instead. They claim it's more effective.

Someone talked to a bunch of Millennials and Gen Z'ers about it. Their basic argument is it's not as rude or crass, but actually more hurtful.

One person described it like this: It's the equivalent of telling someone, "I'm not mad, I'm DISAPPOINTED."

A thumbs down keeps the focus on them. It's a crystal-clear statement that THEY did something wrong.

Another person compared it to pushing someone's "personal DISLIKE button." And according to a body language expert, that actually might have a lot to do with why it's trending.

Thumbs down has become the universal sign of disapproval on sites like Reddit and YouTube. So we have a much stronger reaction to it than we used to.
