Looking ahead to this weekend, Earth Hour returns on Saturday, March 28. The annual global event encourages individuals, businesses, and landmarks to turn off non-essential lights for one hour starting at 8:30 p.m. local time. It's a symbolic gesture to raise awareness about climate change and environmental conservation, with landmarks like the Empire State Building, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Space Needle expected to go dark in solidarity.

Last year, Gen Z was all-in on the word “yearning.” In the throes of a disappointing dating culture ruined by apps and anything even resembling romance, young adults became enamored with the concept of yearning. Deep, passionate and intense love affairs became all the rage — and popular media like Heated Rivalry and The Summer I Turned Pretty helped pave the way for a new generation of hopeless romantics.
This year there’s another word that Gen Z has become hyperfixated on living in pursuit of this year: “Whimsy.”
Gen Zers have become more interested in adopting habits and starting activities that add a little more whimsy — leaning into being spontaneous and creative in a playful, easygoing way. This could include everything from learning embroidery, taking showers with the lights off and candles on, journaling at a bar, putting sprinkles on everything, crafting and hosting dinner parties with brand-new recipes. It’s all about refining everyday habits in a way that adds a little bit more of a cutesy energy. Store makeup in a wicker basket instead of in the drawer of a vanity. Basically, become as close to a character out of a childhood storybook as you simply can.

Two studies show more men than women are more afraid of dentists and bugs.
Researchers found that while 22% of female respondents said they are “very scared” of bugs, 32% of male participants shared the same fearful sentiment.
The research, commissioned by Zevo, surveyed participants on their overall bug knowledge as well. Interestingly, six in 10 respondents said they are confident in their bug-identification abilities. However, when participants’ insect knowledge was actually tested, the results told a different tale. Only 40% knew what a bed bug looked like, and 51% couldn’t even identify a fruit fly.
So, how do most respondents deal with pests in their home? A significant 55% turn to bug spray, 44% use mosquito-repellent bracelets, and 41% always have a fly swatter nearby. Despite the seemingly heavy use of bug spray, 56% of all participants said they often worry about chemicals in the spray. Also, 30% have tried out “home remedies” in their pursuit of a bug-free home.

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - Scotland's national animal is the unicorn. Not a mythological nod—it was chosen because unicorns were believed to be the natural enemy of lions, which symbolized England.
