Elton John has advice for up-and-coming musicians, and it emphasizes reality over reality-TV.

In other words, avoid those talent competitions like "American Idol" and start gigging. Obviously, when Elton was coming up, that's how musicians made it.  And he still thinks it's the key.

Quote, "That experience stood me in great stead for when I became Elton John because I had backbone.  And backbone is so important . . .

"Because the worst thing that can happen to you in the industry are things like 'X Factor' and instant fame on television, where you have no experience of playing live.

"You get put on stage, you go, and you can't do it.  That's the worst thing.  'American Idol', just the worst.  Take risks.  Go and play in a pub."

A money-saving hack from the Depression is going viral, because it can keep eggs fresh up to two years . . . or, it could KILL you.

"Water glassing eggs" is when you store them in a jar filled with a special solution.  But if you do it wrong, you end up with salmonella bombs.

Another reason to not try it:  It only works with farm fresh eggs that haven't been washed.  Supermarket eggs don't have their natural protective coating.

Only try it if you have backyard chickens.  For everyone else, eggs can stay fresh in the fridge for up to five weeks.

If you're trying to lose weight for beach season, you might want to go back to your roots: Try eating like a baby.

Wow, is that Green!
Wow, is that Green!

Nutritionist named Nicolette Pace says it's all about how babies eat, and how they DON'T eat.  Here are the three things you need to do . . .

1.  Eat every two to four hours.  They obviously have to be smaller meals and  Normal healthy-eating rules still apply. Go heavy on fruits, veggies, and whole grains, and in general, avoid meat.

2.  Take your time. Eating slowly gives your brain time to register the fact that you're feeling full. So go slow and chew every bite. Babies usually feed for 15 to 30 minutes.

3.  Avoid mindless munching. Babies don't do it because they can't. For adults, it takes will power. But just pay closer attention to WHY you're eating. Are you actually hungry, or just bored?

(Or of course you could just do the Toddler Diet:  Cut calories by spilling half your food all over the floor and on your face!)

74% of Americans swear when they stub their toe or experience abrupt, physical pain, according to a new poll.

Another 14% said "rarely," so they've done it too.  Only 8% said they never swear when they hurt themselves.

Studies have found swearing can help with pain tolerance.  But only a third of people polled think that's true.

One in six people say swearing in public is never acceptable, even if you're in pain.

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - When Pixar was editing "Toy Story 2", someone managed to accidentally delete a huge chunk of the movie.  They miraculously found a backup though . . . an employee on maternity leave had saved it so she could work on it at home.
