2001 #1 Dance Song today was Papa's Got a Brand New Pigbag by Thunderpuss.
The original is an instrumental by Pigbag, a British dance-punk band which made #56 on the dance chart in 1981.
The piece's title is a play on the James Brown song "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag".
Thunderpuss (Barry Harris and Chris Cox) remade it in 2001 and went #1 Club.

Paul Oakenfold released the track "Reach Up (Papa's Got a Brand New Pigbag)" in 1995 , credited to Perfecto Allstarz, becoming a UK dance #1.
