Happy Lunar New Year! We enter the Year of the Fire Horse. This is a rare and powerful combination in the 60-year sexagenary cycle (the last one was in 1966)
Other Years of the Horse, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014
The Horse represents independence, energy, and freedom. When combined with the Fire element, this energy is amplified, signaling a year of high ambition, rapid change, and "unstoppable momentum."
Lucky Elements: * Colors: Green, yellow, and brown.
Numbers: 2, 3, and 7.
Flowers: Jasmine and Calla Lily.
In Chinese astrology, your Ben Ming Nian (the year of your own zodiac sign) is often considered a year of challenges rather than luck. If you were born in a Horse year it’s traditional to wear red every day to ward off bad luck.

A unique cultural event is happening this week. For the first time in many years, three major religious and cultural observances are beginning almost simultaneously:
Lunar New Year: Starts today, Feb 17.
Ramadan: Expected to begin Feb 18 or 19 (depending on moon sightings).
Lent (Ash Wednesday): Begins Feb 18.
Global leaders and cultural organizations are highlighting this overlap as a rare moment of global "reflection and renewal."

Robert Duvall, the Oscar-winning actor of matchless versatility and dedication whose classic roles included the intrepid consigliere of the first two “Godfather” movies and the over-the-hill country music singer in “Tender Mercies,” has died at age 95.

He got seven Academy Award nominations and the best actor prize for “Tender Mercies,” which came out in 1983. He also won four Golden Globes, including one for playing the philosophical cattle-drive boss in the 1989 miniseries “Lonesome Dove,” a role he often cited as his favorite.

More than 8000 name ideas were submitted. The name picked....
No..not Mollusk McMollusk Face.. It was Ferreiraella populi, latin for "of the people."

A hungry burglar in Hungary took the time to make coffee, cook and eat meals, take showers, pick out a change of clothes, watch TV and check his email while inside three homes. He was busted because he left his email open on one of the computers.

Teacher Ashley Lowry asked her first-grade students to design their own hats. During winter break, she turned them into real-life wearable hats. The kids' reactions when they saw their imaginative drawings transformed into actual hats they could wear were absolutely priceless. It's a beautiful example of how educators go above and beyond to make learning magical and show kids their ideas have real value.

TikTok's latest viral trend is the "Thermostat Game"
The trend involves couples silently communicating through exaggerated movements about who gets to control the thermostat. One person mimes being too hot, the other shivers dramatically, and chaos ensues. The best part? It's completely SILENT—no words needed. If you've ever fought over the AC settings, this trend is painfully accurate!

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - You think the year goes so fast...back in 1753, Sweden skipped February 17th entirely! In fact they skipped the whole rest of February and jumped directly to March 1 when switching from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar.
