Happy Valentine's Day!

The holiday is a bit of a historical mystery, blending both Christian and ancient Roman traditions.

The Legend of St. Valentine: The most popular story suggests Valentine was a Roman priest who performed secret marriages for soldiers after Emperor Claudius II banned them (thinking single men made better warriors).

Lupercalia: Some historians believe the holiday is a "Christianized" version of Lupercalia, a Roman fertility festival held in mid-February that involved... significantly more goat sacrifices than modern Hallmark cards usually depict.

The First "Valentine": The oldest known valentine still in existence today was a poem written in 1415 by Charles, Duke of Orleans, to his wife while he was imprisoned in the Tower of London.

It's also St. Skeletor's Day

Yes him!! The day takes its name from Skeletor, the villain from the Masters of the Universe. It's certain that he never celebrated Valentine's Day.

It is a day for single people; it's a day for all those who didn't have a date or get any flowers yesterday on Valentine's Day, and is basically the antithesis of that day. It was created in 1998 by British comedian Richard Herring. He has said it is "a day for all the lost souls who don't have anyone to love," and that it is "devoted to the destruction of love."

After Robert Irwin won season 34 of "Dancing With the Stars," he's now in discussions with ABC to host an upcoming spinoff show to find a new pro dancer, according to multiple outlets. The nature conservationist and son of the late Steve Irwin has charmed audiences worldwide, and it looks like his TV career is just getting started. We'd totally watch that!

YouTube has gone to the animals!

There is footage of a strand of yarn being dragged across the screen (it as 3.2 million views.) The video, created by the YouTube channel TV BINI, lasts over an hour and is scored with recordings of birdsong.

YouTube actually offers hours and hours of squeaky toys and squirrels, animated fish and feathered balls.

Roku users can download apps like “Happy Dog TV” and “Relax My Cat.” And DOGTV, a television channel and streaming service, has cinematographers who shoot original canine content in more than 20 countries.

Divorce Rings are a hot trend!

Forget returning the ring. The ends of some marriages mean a chance to reset stones into new jewelry symbolizing freedom and a new chapter.

Fashion stylist and entrepreneur Rachel Zoe is currently reworking one of her diamond rings into a “dramatic cocktail ring.”

Zoe said she believes the cultural narrative around diamond rings should evolve.

“You don’t need to be married to a man, or married in general, to have a ring like this for yourself,” said Zoe. “Call it a freedom ring, or an independence ring.”
