James Van Der Beek, the actor known best for embodying those formative, angsty teenage years in "Dawson's Creek" and "Varsity Blues," has died following a diagnosis with colorectal cancer. He was 48.

Van Der Beek's own world shifted dramatically when he landed the title role on The WB's "Dawson’s Creek" (1998-2003), portraying the Spielberg-obsessed cinephile Dawson Leery. The beloved teen drama, which followed Dawson and his friends, Joey Potter (Katie Holmes), Pacey Witter (Joshua Jackson) and Jen Lindley (Michelle Williams) ran for six seasons.
Van Der Beek was also immortalized in the pop culture-consciousness as a teen thanks to his film "Varsity Blues" (1999). The star portrayed lead, Mox, a second-string quarterback called up after the team's starting QB (Paul Walker) is injured.
I loved him in a very Hollywood, very heightened version of himself on ABC's comedy "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23" (2012-13).

Love is in the air, but not just for couples! This Valentine's Day, 57% of Americans—and 70% of Gen Z—say the holiday is about celebrating ALL relationships, not just romantic ones. Galentine's Day celebrations jumped 34% year-over-year, and get this: 60% of Gen Z plans to celebrate with friends. Solo dining on Valentine's Day also surged 35%.
Pet owners spent $1.5 billion on Valentine's gifts for their furry friends in 2024, and the trend is only growing. The average pet owner drops $31 on dogs and $27 on cats. Even better? 62% of dog owners plan to buy their pup a Valentine's gift, and 1 in 3 will spend as much on their dog as their partner.

Forget the 20-minute power nap; researchers found today that a 45-minute afternoon nap is the magic number for "resetting" the brain. This specific duration allows the mind to clear out metabolic waste and stay flexible for late-day learning and focus.

If you’re over 60, your thermostat might be too high. New research suggests that keeping your bedroom at exactly 75°F (24°C) is the sweet spot for reducing nighttime heart stress and improving deep sleep quality for older adults. (can it be lower? 75 is way to hot!!! I have mine 10 degrees cooler for sleeping.)

Gen Z is at it again! The latest TikTok trend has businesses filming employees asking "what year were you born?" Then they hilariously edit anyone born before 2000 into prehistoric dinosaur scenes with roaring sound effects. It's all in good fun—showing off team personalities while playfully roasting the "ancient" millennials!

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - Today is Lincoln's birthday, and in 1914 ground was broken for the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.
The site was originally a swampy marsh known as "Potomac Flats." Many people at the time thought the location was terrible and that the monument would eventually sink into the mud.

Look closely at Lincoln’s hands in the statue; his left hand is clenched (representing determination) and his right is open (representing peace). An urban legend claims they are forming the American Sign Language initials "A" and "L," but the sculptor always denied it.
