Here's one way to deal with a robber.

In Croatia, a robber who ran off after a female cashier in a convenience store pulled off his mask, slapped his face, and told him not to be “such a silly boy.”

For the second time in as many months, a wind burst occurred in a remote part of the western Pacific Ocean during January — and odds are rising that it will trigger a significant change in the planet’s weather patterns later this year.

It's predicting an El Nino will arrive by summer which could influence severe weather and hurricane seasons in the United States later this year; alter rainfall patterns in South America, Africa and Asia; influence the likelihood of coral bleaching; and trigger changes in Arctic and Antarctic sea ice, as heat building near the equator eventually moves elsewhere — and maybe spells new global temperature records.

The good news is that El Nino leads to a quieter Atlantic hurricane season.

Did you hear that the Olympic medals are breaking? Some just moments after they were awarded.

The IOC said they are "fully aware of the situation" and working on a solution

Team USA athletes Breezy Johnson and Alysa Liu are among the athletes whose medals have broken.

It's actually the connection to the ribbon that is breaking.

Medals not holding up well is not a new problem. At a press conference on Feb. 8, skater Danny O’Shea said that his teammate Evan Bates — who previously won gold in Beijing — had warned them that the prizes were fragile.

During the 2024 Games, athletes complained on social media. Skateboarder Nyjah Huston joked his bronze medal looked like it “went to war” after spending a few weeks mixing with the sweat on his skin.

“They are apparently not as high quality as you would think,” he said. “I mean, look at that thing. It’s looking rough. Even the front is starting to chip off a little.”

I talked about the high beverage prices at the Super Bowl. Check out this burger!

It's a $180 burger.

The burger in question — called the LX Hammer Burger — features bone-in beef shank, a roasted mirepoix demi-glace and blue cheese fondue that cascades down the burger on all sides. All of that sits in between two brioche buns.

While there is some evidence the finished product actually looks like a burger, the video above doesn't do it any favors. Culinary icon Guy Fieri might describe it as a "toxic waste dump in Flavortown." Of course, Fieri does have a dish called "trash can nachos," so that's pretty high praise coming from the Mayor of Flavortown, all things considered.

One imagines a medical professional would need to be called in at some point before a person finished the entire burger. And while the burger is probably supposed to be split multiple ways, we still aren't sure how many bites it would take before your arteries start pumping straight blue cheese.

Is there a day without anyone having a birthday - NO

But nine of the ten most common birthdays are in September. (all would have been conceived in Holiday time or just after)

1. September 9

2. September 19

3. September 12

4. September 17

5. September 19

6. July 7

7. September 20

8. September 15

9. September 16

10. September 18

With that said, The most common birth month in the U.S. is August, followed by July and December. September shows up in fourth place, followed by March, November, October, June, May, January, April, and February, in that order.

The top 10 least common birthdays in the U.S., based on FiveThrityEight’s data analysis. The least common birthdays are:

1. December 25

2. January 1

3. December 24

4. July 4

5. January 2

6. December 26

7. November 27

8. November 23

9. November 25

10. October 31

One theory is that doctors won't do c-sections on holidays and that is enough to tip the scales.

What is the weirdest way you've ever heard someone pronounce something?

Sometimes it's kids just learning a word

like sketti for spaghetti

In school in an oral report someone said pneumonia with the p in front.

It's not necessary wrong, but I had a Roommate in college from New Jersey that would say Wortur for water.

Porsche was pronounced “poosh”.

Chipotle “chi-po-latte”. Sounds like a weird coffee drink. (we joke chi-po-tal)

My sister pronounces pillow as “pellow”.

I know someone that pronounced mirror as “mirrow”. Did it for years until someone called her out on it, then stopped.

Penguin - Pengwings  Benedict Cumberbatch said it this way in a documentary.

That viral video you sent, someone called it a mee-mee  not Meme

Fatigue - Fatty-goo

Ask - Axe. Ugh.

Ambulance - Ambalamps

My friend used to pronounce Thai as thigh . He always used to ask shall we grab some thigh food?

We all struggle with these - The only way I can write it down is by saying "Wed-nes-day" in my head. That and "Feb-ru-ary".

In Star Wars Episode 5 & 6, Lando calls Han, "HAN." As in "hand" minus the D. Thought it was so weird.

Bonus Video today. From the IllEagle Tap House in Elmira! So glad this popped up in my feed!

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - National Peppermint Patty Day: A tribute to the dark chocolate and mint confection.

The York Peppermint Patty was created in 1940 and was famously required to pass a "snap test"—if it didn't break cleanly in half when bent, it was considered too soft and discarded.
