Super Bowl Wrap Up

$8 Million for an ad at the Super Bowl.

What were the biggies according to the USAToday Ad Meter.

1. Burweiser Clydsdales "First Delivery" - the horse rolling the keg to the bar (don't open that keg!!!)

2. Lay's Potato Chips "The Little Farmer" - the little girl growing her own potato to add to the truck.

3. Michelob ULTRA "The ULTRA Hustle" with Willem Dafoe, Catherine O’Hara, and pickleball.

4. Stella Artois  "David and Dave" David Beckham meets his long-lost twin brother—played by actor Matt Damon

5 & 6. The NFL adds "somebody" and "Flag 50"

7. Bud Light "Big Men on Cul-De-Sac" starring Shane Gillis, Post Malone and Peyton Manning

I personally enjoyed "Call of the Mustaches" from Pringles, Weather Tech "Whatever Comes Your Way" with the old ladies, and Little Ceasers with Eugene Levy's Eyebrows.

According to an annual survey, an estimated 22.6 million American workers planned to miss work Super Bowl Monday.

That's up from 16.1 million last year, and it also breaks the previous record of 18.8 million from 2023.

There may have been even more no-shows than that, because this was just people who planned to stay home.  There were probably more who decided at the last minute not to go in.

On top of that, another 12.9 million employees said they planned to go into work LATE on the Monday after the big game.

This is why people keep talking about just making Super Bowl monday an annual holiday.  Since so many people go all out for the game, in one way or another.

In a survey from last month, 55% of Americans said the Monday after the Super Bowl should be a national holiday.

I don't know why you just can't move it to the normal second game time of like 4:30..or even 5..then it's over like 9 or 9:30. This isn't rocket science guys!!!

A new study in the "Journal of Urban Economics" found heavy traffic makes us gain weight.  And it all comes down to meal choices.

Researchers looked at three years' worth of traffic and GPS data.  And they found heavy traffic made people more likely to eat fast food, especially for dinner.

They think it's because you're less likely to want to cook when you've been stuck in traffic.  Like, "I'm getting home late.  Do I really want to cook now?"

People were also less likely to swing by the grocery store when traffic was bad.  So they think that's even more evidence it's true.

The conspiracy crowd was out in full force again.  "#Rigged" immediately started trending after a questionable call went against the Eagles in the first quarter.  People claimed the refs were in the tank for Kansas City, but then the Eagles crushed.  So that got shut down pretty quick.

Photos of concession prices at the game were all over social media.  Two that made headlines were a $59 cocktail and a $100 Caprese Crab Salad.

It became such a blowout, a lot of viewers just started paying attention to prop bets.  Here's how some of the sillier ones played out . . .

Heads or tails? (Tails) . . . Was Taylor Swift shown during the National Anthem?  (No) . . . Did Kendrick Lamar perform with a hat on?  (Yes) . . . Did he mention Drake?  (Yes) . . . Gatorade bath color? (Yellow) . . . and was there a "tush-push" touchdown?  (Yes)

Jon Batiste did a great job on the National Anthem last night.  His piano rendition was beautiful, soulful, and universally well-received.

But there was a lot of drama over the anthem in Vegas.  If you didn't know, the over/under on anthem length is always a really popular bet.  And betting the OVER was the heavy favorite.

This year the over/under was set at 120.5 seconds.  Well Jon officially sang it in 120 seconds even.

Like last year, some people also thought Travis Kelce would propose to Taylor on the field after the game.  He did not.  There was a meme going around of Travis saying something into the Chiefs Head Coach and the caption I WAS GOING TO PROPOSE!.

The Eagles even did the "Gatorade Shower" with three minutes left to go in the game, which might have been a record for the earliest COACH-BATH.

The liquid was yellow-green, if you did one of those silly prop-bets.

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - In the early 1900s, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich was considered a delicacy and only eaten by rich people.  But by the 1920s, the price of peanut butter went way down, and PB&Js became more popular.
