1997 - Nimrod - Green Day

25 Years Ago - 1997 Green Day released their fifth album Nimrod.

They had grown tired of its traditional three chord song structure and wanted a more experimental album. Billy Joe Armstrong drew inspiration from The Clash's landmark record London Calling, and referred to Nimrod as "the record I've wanted to make since the band started." The album was intended to break the constraints of typical punk rock music.

The first single was "Hitchin' a Ride" (#59 Radio Songs #5 Alternative Airplay #9 Mainstream Rock.) Next was "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" the prom song made #11 Radio Songs #11 Adult Top 40 #13 Mainstream Top 40 #4 Adult Alternative Songs #2 Alternative Airplay #7 Mainstream Rock), "Redundant" (#16 Alternative Airplay), and "Nice Guys Finish Last" (#31 Alternative Airplay.)
