1997 U2 released their ninth album Pop. Singles were "Discothèque" (#10 #1 Alternative #1 Dance Club and Singles #6 Mainstream Rock), "Staring at the Sun" (#26 #1 Adult Alternative #13 Adult Top 40 #1 Alternative #2 Mainstream Rock), "Last Night on Earth" (#57 #13 Adult Alternative #11 Alternative #18 Mainstream Rock #22 Dance Sales), and "Please", "If God Will Send His Angels", and "Mofo" did not chart in the US.
