1992 - The Bodyguard Soundtrack - (Whitney Houston)

30 Years Ago - 1992 The Bodyguard Soundtrack was released.

The movie starred Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, and the soundtrack featured a full side of Whitney hits.

The album gave Houston the distinction of having the most weeks at number one by a female artist on Billboard 200, holding that record for 19 years until being surpassed by Adele's album 21 in 2011.

It is the best-selling soundtrack album of all-time, as well as the best selling album by a woman in music history, and the best selling album of the decade. The soundtrack won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year.

The lead off single "I Will Always Love You" is a remake of a Dolly Parton song and spent 14 weeks at #1. (Also #1 at R&B, AC, Mainstream Top 40, and Rhythmic)

"I'm Every Woman" a remake of Chaka Kahn's song was a #4 Hot 100 song (#5 R&B #1 Dance #3 Mainstream Top 40.)

"I Have Nothing" was next and another smash peaking at #4 (#1 AC #4 R&B)

"Run to You" (#31 #10 AC #31 R&B) and "Queen of the Night" (#1 Club #36 Radio Songs) were the final Whitney songs from the album.

The other US charting track from the album "It's Gonna Be a Lovely Day" by S.O.U.L S.Y.S.T.E.M. reached #34 and #1 Club. Listen up RuPaul Drag Race Fans...the vocals are done by Michelle Visage.
