1991 Garth Brooks released his third album Ropin' the Wind. It was his first studio album to debut at No. 1 the Billboard 200 chart and the Top Country Albums chart, and the first by a country singer to top both charts since Kenny rogers. Garth didn't release commercial singles so none showed up on the Hot 100. (the methodology didn't include digital and streaming like today.) "Rodeo" and "Papa Loved Mama" were #3 Country hits, and "What's She Doing Now", the Billy Joel cover "Shameless", and "The River" were all Country #1.
This song features backing vocals from future wife Trisha Yearwood.
