1989 - Back on the Block - Quincy Jones

35 Years Ago - 1989 Quincy Jones released Back on the Block.

We just lost him a few weeks ago, so this is a fitting tribute.

The album features musicians and singers from across three generations.

It won the 1991 Grammy Award for Album of the Year.

The Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group went to Big Daddy Kane, Ice-T, Kool Moe Dee, Melle Mel, Quincy Jones III, and Jones for the title track.

"I'll Be Good to You" is a duet between Ray Charles & Chaka Kahn which peaked at #18 and #1 R&B and Club.

"The Secret Garden" featured Al B. Sure, James Ingram, El DeBarge & Barry White and peaked at #31 and #1 R&B.

"Tomorrow (A Better You, Better Me) introduced Tevin Campbell and made #75 and #1 R&B.
