1987 REO Speedwagon released their twelfth album Life as We Know It. Singles released were "That Ain't Love" (#16 #5 Rock), "Variety Tonight" (#60 #28 Rock, and "In My Dreams" (#19 #6 AC.)

This is the group's final studio release with Gary Richrath and original drummer Alan Gratzer, as well as their final top 40 album to date.
