1987 Whitney Houston released her second album Whitney which debuted at #1 and made Houston the first female artist to ever debut at number one in the United States. The album's first four singles all peaked at number one on the US Hot 100, making her the first female act to achieve four number one hits from one album. Along with three straight number one singles from Houston's previous album, this gave the singer an unprecedented seven consecutive number one hits.
The four that went #1 Hot 100 were "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)" won a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Performace Female (#1 AC #1 Club #1 R&B), "Didn't We Almost Have It All" (#1 AC #2 R&B), "So Emotional" (#8 AC #5 R&B #1 Club), and "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" (#1 AC #2 R&B.) The last US released song was "Love Will Save the Day" (#9 Hot 100 #5 R&B #1 Club.)
