1985 - The Power Station

40 Years Ago - 1985 The Power Station released their self titled debut album.

A supergroup formed by Robert Palmer, Tony Thompson (of Chic) and Andy and John Taylor from Duran Duran.

Originally there was to be a different singer on each track and Mick Jagger, Billy Idol, Mars Williams and Richard Butler, and Mick Ronson were all approchaed. But Robert Palmer had so much chemistry with the others, he became lead singer.

"Some Like It Hot" peaked at #6 and #17 Club.

"Get It On (Bang a Gong)" is a cover of the T. Rex #10 hit from 1971. Their version peaked at #9 and #19 Mainstream Rock.

"Communication" made #34.
