40 Years Ago - 1985 The Breakfast Club Soundtrack was released.

It featured "Don't You (Forget About Me)" by Simple Minds which peaked at #1 Hot 100 and Mainstream Rock. It also made #9 Club, #36 AC.
They initially declined the record and it was offered to Bryan Ferry who was busy, Corey Hart, and Billy Idol, it was Jim Kerr's wife Chrissie Hynde who urged him to record it.
Simple Minds did not anticipate the song's success. In 2016, Charlie Burchill said: "When I listen to it now, it’s obviously a brilliant, well-crafted pop song. I’m embarrassed we dissed it so much."
