1984 - Footloose Soundtrack

40 Years Ago - 1984 The Footloose Soundtrack was released.

The smash movie, the smash soundtrack which stayed at #1 from April till June.

The album spawned six Top 40 hits.

"Footloose" by Kenny Loggins was the first single and a #1 smash. 

"Holding Out for a Hero" by Bonnie Tyler and produced by Jim Steinman peaked at #34.

"Dancing in the Sheets" by Shalamar (the Howard Hewett, Delisa Davis, and Micki Free lineup) made #17 and #18 R&B.

"Let's Hear It for the Boy" by Deniece Williams was another #1 on the Hot 100, Club, R&B charts and #3 AC.

"Almost Paradise" a duet with Loverboy's Mike Reno and Heart's Ann Wilson peaked at #7 and #1 AC.

"I'm Free (Heaven Helps the Man)" by Kenny Loggins peaked at #22 and #43 Mainstream Rock.

"Somebody's Eyes" by Karla Bonoff was a seventh single making #16 on the AC chart.

The only two songs from the album that didn't chart were Sammy Hagars "The Girl Gets Around and Moving Pictures "Never" that is in the famous warehouse scene.

This was the heyday of soundtracks.
