1984/1989 - Purple Rain/Batman Soundtracks - Prince

40 Years Ago - 1984 Prince released his sixth album and soundtrack to Purple Rain.

It's not a stretch to say this is my favorite album of all time.

The album was his first to reach #1 (24 Weeks) on the Album Charts.

"When Doves Cry" peaked at #1 and was the #1 song of the year. It also hit #1 on R&B and Club.

"Let's Go Crazy" peaked at #1 Hot 100, Club and R&B.

"Purple Rain" won a Grammy for Best Rock Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group and won the Oscar for Best Original Song Score. It peaked at #2, #3 R&B, #1 Rock Songs.

"I Would Die 4 U" peaked at #9, #11 R&B. #50 Club.

"Take Me with U" made #25 and #40 R&B.







35 Years Ago - 1989 Prince released his eleventh album and soundtrack to Batman.

The album was #1 for seven weeks.

"Batdance" peaked at #1 Hot 100, Club, R&B, #18 Alternative Airplay,

"Partyman" peaked at #18

"The Arms of Orion" a duet with Sheena Easton peaked at #36

"Scandalous!" made #5 R&B.
