1979 - Christopher Cross - Christopher Cross

45 Years Ago - 1979 Christopher Cross released his self-titled debut album.

The album was one of the first in popular music to be digitally recorded, utilizing the 3M Digital Recording System, and released on the 20th.

Hello Yacht Rock!!! Christopher is the poster child. 

The album won five Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, (both for "Sailing"), and Best New Artist, with Cross becoming the first artist to win the four major categories in the same year — a feat not replicated until Billie Eilish in 2020.

"Ride Like the Wind" with background vocals from Michael McDonald peaked at #2, #24 AC.

"Sailing" peaked at #1, #10 AC.

"Never Be the Same" made #15, #1 AC.

"Say You'll Be Mine" with background vocals from Nicolette Larson made #20, #15 AC.
