45 Years Ago - 1978 The Carpenters released their Christmas album Portrait, their ninth album.
"Merry Christmas Darling" is featured on this album with a re-recorded vocal (at Karen's request) from the 1970 recording. I actually prefer the 1970 version. You decide.
