45 Years Ago - 1977 Neil Diamond released his eleventh album I'm Glad You're Here with Me Tonight.
This was his second album that had a TV special that was nominated for three Emmy Awards. It also features a pioneering segment with one of the earliest broadcasts of what would come to be known as a music video with its treatment of Diamond's song "Morningside".
The album is also notable for a solo version of the song "You Don't Bring Me Flowers". Diamond would score a #1 hit with a new version recorded as a duet with Barbra Streisand the following year.
Originally created for a TV Sitcom All That Glitters as the theme song (a Sitcom???), but Norman Lear changed the concept and the song was no longer appropriate. (the show ran 65 episodes in 1977 and is an interesting idea - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_That_Glitters_(TV_series))
Early in 1978, Barbra Streisand covered the song on her album Songbird. These recordings were spliced together by different radio stations, creating unofficial duets, the success of which led to the studio bringing them together for an official duet recording.
