50 Years Ago - 1974 Dolly Parton released her thirteenth album Jolene.
The first single was the title track and was her second solo #1 on the Country charts. It also peaked at #60 Hot 100 and #44 AC.
"I Will Always Love You" was another #1 Country hit. Parton re-recorded the song for The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas in 1982 where it peaked at #53 Hot 100 #17 AC and again at #1 Country.
It was again recorded as a duet with Vince Gill in 1995 and made #15 on the Country chart.
The song would never be heard again (snicker.)
(just so you know, Whitney's 1992 version is based off Linda Ronstadt's version of the song with Dolly providing the last verse that Linda didn't do.)
