1973 - Ringo - Ringo Starr

50 Years Ago - 1973 Ringo Starr released his third album Ringo.

The album is noted for the participation of all four former Beatles, and for its numerous guest stars which turned into his signature!

This is another that I remember hearing on the radio.

The album featured three hit singles.

"Photograph" co-written with George Harrison became Ringo's first #1 smash. (#3 AC)

Released: 24 September 1973 (US); 19 October 1973 (UK)

"You're Sixteen" was another #1 (#2 AC) Paul McCartney is doing the "kazoo" like sound. Harry Milsson also sang back up. I was surprised to find out that it was a remake of a Sherman Brothers song from 1961.

Released: 3 December 1973 (US); 8 February 1974 (UK)

"Oh My My" peaked at #5 (#24 AC) with backing vocals by Merry Clayton and Martha Reeves. Billy Preston plays keyboards on the track.

In this promotional video that was made, to circumvent the BBC's ban on lip-synching, Starr placed his hand over his mouth for part of the song, making it impossible to tell whether he was singing or merely miming.
