1972 - 50 Years Ago

1972 The Carpenters released their fourth album A Song For You. According to Richard Carpenter, the album was intended to be a concept album (of sorts) with the title tune opening and closing the set and the bookended selections comprising the 'song'.

Six songs were released as A-side singles internationally: "Bless the Beasts and Children" (#67 #26 AC), "Hurting Each Other" (##2 #1 AC), "It's Going to Take Some Time" (#12 #2 AC), "Goodbye to Love" (#7 #2 AC), "Top of the World" (#1 #2 AC), "I Won't Last a Day Without You" (#11 #1 AC.)
