Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - For a long time, the New Year didn't start on January 1st. In medieval Europe, the year often began on March 25th (Lady Day) or December 25th. It wasn't until the Gregorian Calendar was adopted (1582 for some, 1752 for the UK and colonies) that January 1st became the standard.
