Get ready for gridlock in NYC.

Fifth Avenue in New York City is going car-free on specific dates in December for the holidays, offering a pedestrian-friendly experience.

The car-free zone is along Fifth Avenue, between 47th and 57th Streets.

It's on Wednesdays (?) December 3, 10, and 17 from noon tiill 6.

I just got my flu shot, but..As flu season gets underway, global health experts are increasingly worried about a new strain of the virus that popped up in June — four months after the makeup of this year’s flu shots had been decided.

The government shutdown hasn't helped in getting more information out on this and it may delay data collection and analysis.

Still best to get that flu shot to lessen the severity of it.

Wash your hands, why not bring back masks when out in a crowded store.

Surveys and analyses find many Americans spend large parts of the day on phones and apps — with some research equating that to weeks lost per year — which you might recognise as the “I looked up and two hours vanished” problem. (ok...i admit a half-hour)

A self-portrait by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo featuring her husband, artist Diego Rivera, sold at auction on Tuesday for $34.9 million, the highest price ever paid for a painting by a Latin American artist.

“El sueño (La cama)” depicts Kahlo asleep beneath a skeleton wrapped in explosives, a nod to a Mexican Easter effigy.

ree

It is behind the $44.4M woman's record set by a Georgia O’Keeffe painting and matches the $34.9M Latin American record held by another Kahlo self-portrait.

Dailycampus.com broke down all the great Thanksgiving TV you shouldn't miss.

Movies include “Planes, Trains and Automobiles.” Starring Steve Martin and John Candy,

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (the original Friendsgiving), and Fantastic Mr. Fox ("the whole movie is basically about getting and then eating food.")

Don't forget the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, with Santa, Celebrities, Broadway, and the Balloons!

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - Scientist Dan Frost of the Bayerisches Geoinstitut in Germany made a diamond out of peanut butter. Frost studies the conditions of Earth’s mantle and has found ways to mimic them in his lab. According to the BBC, the high pressures of the mantle can strip oxygen from carbon dioxide and leave behind the carbon to form a diamond. And since peanut butter is already rich in carbon, Frost was able to transform the nutty goodness into a shiny jewel.
