An eighth grader in California named Kevin Tang was just named America's Top Young Scientist in 2025 for an invention inspired by his grandmother.

It's called FallGuard.  It uses cameras and A.I. to detect if someone falls and needs help.  You don't even have to say, "I've fallen and I can't get up."  A.I. does it for you.  The title comes with a $25,000 grand prize.

A 95-year-old named Frank Uryasz Jr. is in the news after starting a Taylor Swift fan club at his retirement home in Omaha, Nebraska.

He bought his occupational therapist an "I Love Taylor" pin this summer.  Then his friends wanted one, and it grew from there.  Now they're all Swifties, and the club has over 100 people in it.

His local news station interviewed him, and he said his ultimate goal is to get Taylor to come visit in person.  He's also a lifelong Chiefs fan, so he's hoping she brings Travis Kelce with her.  But he says just Taylor would be fine.

Recent unseasonal rainfall in Arizona is bringing rarely seen toads and mushrooms to parks and backyards.

An increase in these organisms in the Phoenix area has prompted warnings from poison control officials about potential dangers to people and pets.

The director of the Banner Poison Control and Drug Information Center said some people are trying to lick Sonoran Desert toads, also known as Colorado River toads, to get a high, but the practice can result in illness or even death.

Mushrooms are also appearing after the recent rainfall. Banner Poison Control says it’s difficult to determine which mushrooms are safe to eat. They warned people not to touch mushrooms growing in yards and lawns because they can cause severe stomach problems.

Visitors to a California beach are warning of an aggressive otter with a habit of stealing surfboards -- and it isn't the first time.

Isabella Orduna said she was surfing Wednesday evening at Steamer Lane in Santa Cruz when a sea otter bit her foot and climbed atop her surfboard.

She said the otter remained on her board for about 20 minutes before being driven away with help from other beach-goers.

A sign was posted at the beach Thursday, reading: "Warning. Aggressive sea otter in this area. Enter the water at your own risk. Keep away from marine wildlife."

An otter dubbed Otter 841 became infamous in 2023 for a string of incidents where the female otter attacked surfers and stole their boards. It was not known whether the same otter is responsible for the most recent incidents, as Otter 841 is no longer tagged.

Are you backed up? Chronically?? Don't do the prep for a colonoscopy..try this.

First off, about 1 out of every 6 to 7 people are affected by chronic constipation worldwide. In the United States, 9% to 20% of adults have some form of chronic idiopathic constipation, in which the cause of the condition is unknown.

Kiwifruit, rye bread, prunes and high mineral-content water can help.

In fact 2 to 3 Kiwi a day is really helpful.

You can also eat a kiwi’s skin or peel, which has extra fiber.

Always talk to your doctor before using drugs and such, also get some physical activity, that's always important.

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - The U.S. Department of Defense buys more explosive devices than anyone else in the world. Who's number two?  The Walt Disney Company, because of all the fireworks they buy for their parks.
