A homeowner in Maine became an overnight viral sensation after accidentally creating an impromptu nocturnal party in his backyard. After installing a new ultra-bright motion-sensor floodlight near his deck, he returned home to find nearly 30 raccoons sitting on his lawn in a neat semi-circle, completely hypnotized by the beam of light like a tiny furry outdoor concert. (were they trying to summon something?)

I guess it's better to at least stretch in the morning!
A clinical health study published this week found that adding just ten minutes of gentle static stretching (when you move a muscle to a comfortable stretch and hold the position often around 30 seconds without bouncing) right after waking up significantly reduces mid-day stress response and blood pressure spikes. Researchers noted that morning stretching improves vascular elasticity throughout the entire workday far better than late-night cardio routines.

Watching The Daily Show the other night, John Stewart was talking about the riots in France, and then, showed just how much some people don't care. A couple in a cafe casually talking while there's fires in the background, and video of an unnamed woman jogging through the streets of Paris during violent protests, navigating fire, smoke, and debris. The caption: "no compromise on fitness." Social media is divided between admiration for her dedication and concern for her safety.

NASA’s Perseverance rover has surpassed the previous record for distance traveled by a vehicle on another world, aided by its self-driving technology.
28.06-miles in just five and a half years, a feat that previously took nearly 15 for the Opportunity rover.
The achievement matters because autonomous navigation can help future missions cover more ground while reducing the need for constant instructions from Earth.

Jay-Z is reportedly planning to perform during halftime of Super Bowl LXI.
Sources close to the situation told Puck that the famed rapper, who has been overseeing the show since 2019, selected himself as the upcoming event’s headliner.
Insiders also said Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber were considered headliners for Super Bowl LXI. However, no official announcement has been made yet.
Jay-Z’s potential decision to headline the big music/sports event comes just after he celebrated the 30th anniversary of his debut, Reasonable Doubt, and the 25th anniversary of his album The Blueprint.
He also earned more than $42 million from three sold-out performances at Yankee Stadium in July and $12 million from one sold-out show in Paris last month.

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - Chester Carlson produced the very first successful xerographic image in his apartment laboratory in Astoria, Queens, inventing the technology that laid the foundation for modern photo copiers.
He spent over 4 years being turned down by over 20 corporations (including IBM and Kodak) who insisted nobody would ever need a machine to make quick paper copies, forcing him to conduct his early experiments in his mother-in-law's small kitchen.
