Today encourages owners to bond with their feathered friends, though most experts suggest a gentle pat rather than a full-on hug. If you don't have a chicken, a stuffed animal or even a very confused cat will suffice for the "snuggle" quota!

(Or, head to the freezer and hug some parts.)

Male and Female Resolutions

Overall, the answers are similar between men and women, but women emphasized happiness, eating healthy, losing weight, and paying down debt more than men did.

Also from the report

The splits by age group suggest fewer resolutions as we get older. While 66% of 18- to 29-year-olds set a resolution, only 28% of those 65 and older set one. Is the older age group recognizing futility or did they already achieve their goals?

Pregnant women who eat diets rich in fatty foods like bacon risk predisposing their child to obesity, experts have warned.

But wait -

German researchers have suggested that the smell of such fatty foods increases the risk of babies developing the condition later in life. (what kind of nonsense is this?)

Scientists could not say exactly why this was the case.

But they suggested that exposure to artificial flavours early in life may create a 'mismatched association' between food's sensory signals and expected calorie content which may affect children when they get older.

Houseplants have long been celebrated for their wide-ranging health perks, from lifting mood and easing fatigue to boosting pain tolerance and even helping the body recover faster.

But a new study from Stanford University suggests that too much greenery can backfire, turning what should be a calming oasis into a source of stress.

Surveys suggest that two-thirds of American households now sport at least one indoor plant, and one in three people under 40 proudly call themselves a “plant parent.”

The study found that the sweet spot for indoor greenery was about 20%, which gave participants the biggest boost in perceived restoration and sense of belonging.

In practical terms, that’s like glancing around a room and spotting plants about one-fifth of the time, in a 13-square-meter space, that translated to 17 plants plus a window view of tree canopies.

(in a room..how many people have 17 plants????? Seriously??)

They are helpful, for instance, In offices, studies have found that indoor plants can boost productivity by up to 15%, along with reducing stress, tension and feelings of depression.

Laundry, you love it or hate it, but you can add things to your laundry for different effects.

White Vinegar for soft, fresh fabric. Add about a half a cup to the rinse cycle or in the fabric softener compartment.

Baking Soda for a Clean, Neutral Freshness - a half up helps balance odors and lets your detergent do it's job better. Especially helpful for towels and gym clothes!

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day for Bubble Bath Day -

Bubble baths, as we know them, didn't become common until the 1960s. Before then, most bath additives were bath salts or oils; it took the invention of synthetic surfactants to create bubbles that wouldn't immediately collapse in hard water.
