Earth's Rotation Day

National Career Coach Day

National English Toffee Day

National Man Watcher's Day

National Winter Skin Relief Day

Show and Tell Day at Work Day

War on Poverty Day

World Typing Day

National JoyGerm Day - The goal of the day is to "smile, hug, grin, and win over at least one grumpy grouch." It is a day to spread cheer through "germs of joy." It is a time for positivity, optimism, smiles, and kindness to everyone that one comes into contact with.

According to a survey, "nearly half of all Americans" carry backup underwear with them.

Why??

In case they "have an accident"

because they plan to change clothes during the day, like after going to the gym

because they're clumsy, and might spill something on themselves.  (that's a big spill if it gets on your underwear)

70% of people who carry spare underwear say they have had it come in handy at least once.

And this is more common among the younger generations. 60% of Gen Z'ers and 57% of Millennials say they have "in-case-of-emergency" underwear.

People who carry back-up underwear are more likely to replace their undergarments sooner.

82% of them say you should replace your underwear after two years.  Among the people who don't carry spares, 83% say they're keeping their underwear for at least three years.

According to most experts, you should replace your underwear every six months to a year. (seriously??)

Another expert said, as long as you're washing them and they are in decent condition there's no expiration date.

The big Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas started yesterday, and as usual, there are a few weird ones.

A robot vacuum that picks up dirty socks. It's like a Roomba, but with an arm on top that picks up stuff you tossed on the floor.

Electric Rollerblades. You wear the battery around your waist like a belt and control the speed with a remote. The top speed is 18 miles an hour.

An Electric Salt Spoon. It's been in the works for a while, and went on sale in Japan last year.  A weak current of electricity hits your tongue and makes stuff taste saltier than it really is. They're $125 in Japan.

A table with working legs. It's called the Mi-Mo, and it walks around. The prototype looks like a small side table with a Pixar lamp on top.  The idea is it's an A.I. robot you can talk to, but it also looks like furniture.

A tiny robot that blows on your drink to cool it down. It's called the FuFu. It looks like a cat and hangs on the side of your coffee mug.  It also works on soup. They'll go on sale in Japan later this year for around $25.

Lady Gaga just became the third artist to have multiple #1 hits in three different decades on the Billboard Hot 100.  Janet and Michael Jackson are the other two.

Gaga tops the Hot 100 this week with her Bruno Mars collaboration "Die with a Smile".  It's her sixth time reaching #1.

Gaga's five other songs to go #1 are: "Just Dance" featuring Colby O'Donis in 2009, "Poker Face" in 2009, "Born This Way" in 2011, "Shallow" with Bradley Cooper in 2019, and "Rain on Me" with Ariana Grande in 2020.

It's worth mentioning that Janet, Michael, and Gaga aren't exactly the only three artists to earn multiple #1s in three decades.

Paul McCartney and Diana Ross did it, but since it's a mix of their careers in The Beatles and Supremes, and as solo artists, Billboard didn't include them.

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - The first script for "E.T." was a horror movie.  Steven Spielberg decided he liked it better as a family movie . . . and that horror script was rewritten to become "Poltergeist".
