Balancing on one leg can be surprisingly challenging as we get older, but training yourself to do it for longer can make you stronger, boost your memory and keep your brain healthier.

Typically our ability to hold this pose matures by around the ages of nine to 10 years old. Our balance then peaks in our late 30s before declining.

If you're over the age of 50, your ability to balance on a single leg for more than a few seconds can indicate a surprising amount about your general health and how well you're ageing.

it can bring a range of benefits to your body and brain, such as helping to reduce the risk of falls, building your strength and improving your memory. This deceptively simple exercise can have an outsized effect on your health as you age.

A 2022 study, which found that people unable to hold a single-legged pose for 10 seconds in mid-later life were 84% more likely to die from any cause over the following seven years.

So practice and work at it!

Oscar nominations happened yesterday and Sinners shattered the record for most nominations. 16 surpassing All About Eve, Titanic, and La La Land.

Snubs from the Oscar nominations.

Wicked: For Good. Not a single nomination. Sad for Ariana and Cynthia that so deserve and award.

Miley Cyrus didn't get a nom for her song "Dream as One" from Avatar: Fire and Ash. (and again Diane Warren was nominated for something)

Paul Mescal who plays William Shakespeare in Hamnet didn't get a best supporting actor nom.

Usually, a Best Actor nominee has his supporting actress nominated as well. Not so for Timothee Chalamet. Odessa A'Zion did not get Best Supporting Actress for Marty Supreme.

One of the big surprises..Best Costumes nomination for....Avatar: Fire and Ash. (it's animated!!!!!)

Nearly half of all U.S. adults now own a smartwatch or fitness tracker. The data shows we’ve moved past just counting steps; now we're using them to monitor everything from blood glucose to "nervous system tuning.

Google’s reign is officially being challenged when it come to people searching for products or advice. 24% of consumers now use TikTok and Instagram as their first stop. The data suggests that for the under-30 crowd, if a product doesn't have a video review on social media, it basically doesn't exist.

Today's Useless Fact of the Day- On January 23, 1849, Elizabeth Blackwell was awarded her M.D. from Geneva Medical College in New York.

Her admission to the school was originally intended as a practical joke. The all-male student body was asked to vote on her admission; they thought the request was a prank and unanimously voted "yes" as a gag. She showed up anyway and became the first woman to receive a medical degree in the United States.
