Winter blues are peaking right now — and experts say this week is the toughest.
Mental health professionals say early-to-mid January is when seasonal affective disorder symptoms are most common, thanks to shorter days and post-holiday letdowns. Light therapy, outdoor walks, and routine sleep schedules are being strongly recommended. It’s a good reminder check-in moment for listeners.
That's why many are booking Spring Break trips earlier than ever.
Travel sites report a surge in early spring break bookings as travelers try to lock in lower prices and avoid last-minute airfare spikes. Airlines say flexible schedules and lingering remote-work habits are driving the trend. This is shaping up to be one of the earliest booking seasons on record.

Did you know January is known as the looooongggest month of the year?
Ok, arguably, at 31 days, it's actually not longer than December or August, but without all of the holiday hoopla or sunny summer days, it feels long!
And the joyless January feeling actually is so common that this coming Monday is known as Blue Monday.
Between the holiday credit card bill, a lot less sunshine, cold and snow, a fall off of resolutions, and all the twinkly lights tucked away ... January can feel longer than any other month.

In medieval Europe, sometimes the condemned prisoner was a pig. It was a crazy time!!! In medieval Europe, pigs went to trial—and the gallows—surprisingly often.
Pigs are omnivorous. Throughout history, this made them useful as they could be fed kitchen scraps and waste. Yet a pig allowed to wander freely could easily overpower a small child, and as a result, there are hundreds of records of pigs killing and eating children across medieval Europe.
Pigs in the Middle Ages were much closer to the wild boar. So they were very fast, very strong, and they ate everything, including human meat sometimes.”
To us, it’s sensational that they would put a pig on trial, but to people at the time, it seemed [like] an ordinary thing to do.”

After more than 25 years of continuous human presence in orbit, the International Space Station is approaching its final chapter.
NASA and its international partners plan to deorbit the ISS around 2030–2031. Rather than leaving it in orbit indefinitely, the station will undergo a controlled descent through Earth’s atmosphere and splash down in a remote area of the Pacific Ocean, chosen to minimize risk to people and property.
Since its first crewed mission in 2000, the ISS has been one of humanity’s greatest collaborative achievements — supporting hundreds of scientific experiments, medical research, and innovation in space systems.
The end of the ISS won’t happen for several years yet, but planning for this controlled re-entry is already underway. This moment will mark the conclusion of one era of space exploration and the beginning of another, as new commercial and orbital platforms take up the mantle.
The most astonishing detail?
The International Space Station has cost over $150 billion to build, operate, and maintain — making it the most expensive single structure ever created by humanity.

A shocking video captured by a nearby neighbor is going viral after showing a man delivering his final child support payment in an extreme and highly controversial way. According to the footage, the man arrived at his ex’s home towing a dump trailer filled with pennies and proceeded to unload the entire trailer onto her front lawn.
80,000 to be exact.
(impressive since we can't even get pennies at the store anymore....)

Digital press-on nails that changed color in seconds debuted at the Consumer Electronics Show 2026 in Las Vegas to a mix of awe and skepticism from people online. The nails came from beauty tech start-up iPolish and promised fast changes with a single button tap.

iPolish’s press-on nails rely on something called electrophoretic nanopolymers, something similar to e-ink displays like Kindles use. Each nail connects to a tiny internal display, and together they form a digital manicure with the wearer’s choice of color. 300 of them no less.
People are less than impressed with the first version.
Online reactions quickly split. While some viewers praised the concept, others criticized the look. On X, @RobbiJadeLew wrote, “I appreciate the tech, but they look awful. Most women are picky about how their nails look. Would have been better to put the innovation towards changing the color of something else.”
Similarly, @hopefullistic posted, “Those are the weirdest, most awkward-looking fake nails I’ve ever seen in my life.”

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - National Bagel Day. In the 1600s, bagels were often given as gifts to women in childbirth in Poland because their circular shape symbolized the "circle of life."
Women preferred the harder bread to make it hurt more when they threw them.
(drugs..they want drugs!)
