Batman Day
In 1939 It was the first appearance of Batman in Detective Comics #27. (published in March, cover dated May)
Bob Kane received sole official credit for creating Batman for decades. Writer Bill Finger was actually responsible for Batman's iconic look (the cowl, cape, and dark color scheme), as well as naming Bruce Wayne and creating Gotham City. Finger finally received co-creator credit in 2015.
