9/1/21 Rabbit Rabbit..welcome to September. (how did that happen?)

Wednesday 9/1/21

Rabbit Rabbit - Welcome to September.

Celebrate National Burnt Ends, Acne Positivity, Chicken Boy, and No Rhyme(Nor Reason) Day.

Ok..some clarifications:

National Burnt Ends Day is your BBQ celebration!

Once considered trimmings or left-overs, burnt ends come from the point of a brisket. However, these days burnt ends take center stage in a BBQ basket of smoky flavor and goodness.

The name comes from the longer cooking time required for tender brisket. As a result, these thinner points become a little charred and tougher than the rest of the meat.

Don’t let that description deter you, though. As a tradition in the Kansas City area, they’ve mastered burnt ends and a taste for them has spread across the country.

Chicken Boy stands 22 feet tall and holds a bucket of chicken. The fiberglass statue of a boy with a chicken head can be seen along Route 66. He is named after the former 1960s Chicken Boy Restaurant. Also known as the “Statue of Liberty of Los Angeles,” he joins other notable food characters, such as Big Boy and Ronald McDonald.

The iconic statue remained in place at the restaurant until the owner died in 1984. At that time, Chicken Boy was given to Los Angeles art director, Amy Inouye. For a time, the statue remained cooped up in storage. However, over 20 years later Chicken Boy flew the coop. He now graces the property of Inouye’s design firm. The entire community came together to make the restoration of Chicken Boy possible, too. His restoration and display are partly due to the catalog of items Inouye offered for purchase Chicken Boy-themed items for fans to enjoy.

The feathered boy not only attracts visitors, but he also has a documentary and a polka song named after him. In addition, he and Inouye have also received several awards.

According to a new survey, most workers aren't productive for a full eight hours, regardless of where they are.

During an eight-hour workday, the average worker only spends four hours and 12 minutes actively working.

The survey asked people to list the things they're doing when they're not zeroed in on work, and the top five distractions are Surfing the Internet, social media, texting, bathroom breaks, and socializing with coworkers.

Other responses include Snack breaks, coffee breaks, "reading and drawing", watching TV, phone calls, and childcare.

When asked why they're not busier at work, common responses were there are lulls in tasks, waiting on coworkers to finish, they're not motivated, they're distracted by personal situations, and the "environment is not ideal."

A cosmetics company has just put out a new makeup line that's inspired by Fruity Pebbles and Cocoa Pebbles cereal.

There are lip oils, lip gloss, brush kits, highlighters, and two 18-color eyeshadow palettes, one for Fruity Pebbles and one for Cocoa Pebbles.

The Fruity Pebbles products are more colorful and rainbow-inspired while the Cocoa Pebbles items have darker and warmer tones.

Unfortunately, they are not edible. (they should come with a free box of cereal)

They do smell like the cereals and there's no way that anyone would know you were wearing Pebbles makeup, unless they saw the packaging.

A couple from Chicago named Doug and Dedra Simmons recently had a destination wedding in Jamaica. And one couple who RSVP'd didn't show up. So Doug and Dedra charged them for no-showing.

They say the couple told them four different times that they were coming, and never called to cancel. So they sent them an INVOICE for $240, $120 for each seat at the reception that they left empty.

As always, the reactions online are mixed. Some people say it's totally fair to charge them since the bride and groom had to pay upfront for them to be there. Other people think it's petty. Doug and Dedra say it's not about the money though. They just think it was disrespectful.

(I'd love to know their defense of not going. This one I would tip toward the Bride and Groom.)

You have a Gaggle of Geese, a Murder of Crows, and rabbits..A group of bunnies is called a "herd," typically. But in some parts of Canada, they call it a "fluffle." Now that's a great word!
