A thread is going viral on Reddit where people are talking about things that were normal in the '90s . . . but are rare or NONEXISTENT now. Here are a few of the highlights, which will make some people feel VERY old.
https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/vz5rby/what_was_normal_in_the_1990s_but_rare_or_non/
1. A Discman plugged into a cassette tape with a wire to play music in your car.
2. Hotlines for the weather report, current time, and movie show times.
3. Talking to your friend's mom to see if they were home.
4. Being unreachable, with no one thinking that it was unusual or rude.
5. Picking someone up from the airport, and waiting for them at their gate.
6. Card catalogs to find books in a library.
7. Pressing "Play" and "Record" at the same time.
8. The "yellow pages."
9. Taking your disposable camera to get developed.
10. Pogs. And slap bracelets.
11. Bras on cars.
12. Actually having to meet people at the time and place you said you'd meet them when you made plans.

We discovered the first "dormant black hole," meaning it's orbiting a star but too far away to consume it. And in related news, a site called NameAHole.com lets you pay $10 to name a black hole after someone who sucks.
"Nothing sucks like a black hole, but some people come really close. Name a black hole after someone who really sucks and give them the recognition they deserve. The person's name will be registered with the International Black Hole Registry, and you'll receive an official certificate with the black hole name and location."
I also like their disclaimer - The International Black Hole Registry is not recognized by the scientific community, or if we are it is probably not in a good way. My mom says it's because I'm too handsome to be scientifically credible, and I think she's on to something.

Britain's "Sun" tabloid collected 12 "bad habits," and then listed a potential BENEFIT to that behavior, based on some random scientific research.
Here they are . . . but keep in mind, this is just for fun. Despite the "science" they're based on, they may still have more negative ramifications than positive.
1. Chewing with your mouth full . . . makes food taste better by making the aromas easier to smell.
2. Biting your nails . . . boosts your immune system by introducing it to bacteria.
3. Chewing gum . . . sharpens your focus and memory.
4. Not cleaning up . . . messiness can be a sign of intelligence.
5. Slouching . . . can be good for joints and limit back stiffness after a period of hard, physical work.
6. Being late . . . makes you happy and less stressed.
7. Sleeping in . . . helps boost your memory and can help you live longer.
8. Playing with your hair . . . alleviates boredom and can reduce anxiety.
9. Peeing in the shower . . . cleans your feet and can prevent fungal issues. But if you have a cut, be warned, you could get a bacterial infection.
10. Fidgeting . . . can burn 10 times more calories than keeping still.
11. Gossiping . . . can reduce stress and anxiety. And laughing releases "feel-good" hormones.
12. Swearing . . . relieves pain, according to a study that found that cursing boosted pain tolerance by about 33%.
