8/19/21 Change your life in one minute. Or waste time with a pointless website.

Thursday 8/19/21

Celebrate National Aviation, Soft Ice Cream, and Potato Day.

Also International Bow Day. Recognizing the accessory that has been changing fashion for centuries – bows! Adding accessories makes just about any look so much better.

During the 18th century, men primarily wore bows. However, as fashion trends changed, women began to wear the accessory, too. They chose a variety of fabrics, styles, sizes to compliment their wardrobe. Throughout the generations, bows continue to maintain their fashion power. While they never went out of style, designs and place dictated the fashion trends.

Yesterday we told you that Colin Jost and Scarlett Johansson were expecting...well it's more than that!

Colin Jost is loving fatherhood.

The Saturday Night Live star, 39, and wife Scarlett Johansson recently welcomed their first baby together, Johansson's rep Marcel Pariseau exclusively confirmed to People Magazine Wednesday.

Later, on Instagram, Jost shared a quick statement, revealing that their baby boy is named Cosmo — and joking that people can reach out to SNL costar Michael Che for more.

"Ok ok we had a baby. His name is Cosmo. We love him very much," writes Jost. "Privacy would be greatly appreciated. For all inquires please contact our publicist @chethinks."

You can change your life for the better in one minute. This is according to Gretchen Rubin, author and co-host of the Happier podcast. Here’s Rubin’s tip: Anything you can do in less than a minute, do without delay. Some examples of tasks you can do in less than a minute: put that dish in the dishwasher; return the document back to the folder where it came from; stick your coat in the closet when you come in from outside. Rubin said a lot of people have told her the one minute rule has massively transformed their surroundings.

… Got a bigger project you’ve been putting off? Try the 15 minute rule:

• Step 1: Pick one task or activity that you’ve been procrastinating on

• Step 2: Set a timer for 15 minutes

• Step 3: Work for 15 minutes on this task until the timer rings

… The key here is the timer. By setting the timer you’re telling your brain the perceived “pain” of your project — starting a blog post, cleaning the inside of your car, organizing your tax records — will be over very soon.

A cat home alone in Germany apparently turned on the vacuum cleaner, frightened itself half to death and wound up being attended to by emergency services. Police said a neighbor heard the cat’s cries — not to mention a vacuum left running for hours — and feared there’d been a terrible accident. Authorities sped to the scene but found only the cat and the machine. (if only the cats would vacuum..it's mostly their hair)
