Randy Meisner, a founding member of the Eagles who added high harmonies to such favorites as “Take It Easy” and “The Best of My Love” and stepped out front for the waltz-time ballad “Take It to the Limit,” has died, the band said Thursday. He was 77.
“Randy was an integral part of the Eagles and instrumental in the early success of the band,” the Eagles’ statement said. “His vocal range was astonishing, as is evident on his signature ballad, ‘Take It to the Limit.’”
He left the band after the release of the 1976 album Hotel California.
Randy did have a hit with "Deep Inside My Heart" (#22) and "Hearts on Fire" (#19) in 1980 and 1981.

Is it Ice Tea or Iced Tea?
A (strangely comprehensive) poll asked more than 10,000 Americans
and 49% of them say it's ICED tea. 20% say ICE tea. And 27% say both are cool.
This seems like it would be a regional thing, but if you break it down by the different areas of the country, there aren't any noticeable spikes.
However, if you break it down by age, younger adults are much more likely to spell it ICE tea. And when broken by race, Black and Hispanic people are more likely to say it's ICE tea.
According to grammar websites, neither are wrong, but the original term was ICED tea. But this shift HAS happened before both ice cream and ice water were originally iced cream and iced water.

The Department of Transportation has just announced a new rule that will REQUIRE airlines to make restrooms large enough for TWO people.
The purpose is to make at least one restroom large enough for passengers with disabilities AND their attendants to enter and maneuver within the space.
Larger aircraft with two aisles already have special wheelchair-accessible restrooms . . . that's been required since 1990. This will make it so that smaller planes with one aisle also have them.
But don't get TOO excited.
Planes are only required to have one and airlines have 10 years to comply, which would be 2033.
Are they just asking more people to join the mile high club?

9. "Uno"
10. "View-Master"
11. "Matchbox"

A 51-year-old dad in Queensland, Australia got a DUI on Sunday . . . while driving his RIDING MOWER through town at one o'clock in the morning.
When a cop pulled him over and asked what he was doing, he said, quote, "I just thought I'd drive this old girl over to mow my daughter's lawn."
The cop said 1:00 AM probably wasn't the best time for that. His chest-cam was running, so there's video of it.
A breathalyzer clocked the guy at 0.19. That's more than twice the legal limit here, and almost four times the legal limit in Australia where it's 0.05.
He's due in court in September, facing a drunk driving charge.

"Saturday Night Live" boss Lorne Michaels is 78. Which means it might not be too much longer before NBC needs to find a replacement.
And that replacement could be . . . Tina Fey. Sources say she's the leading contender . . . and possibly the ONLY contender being seriously considered at the moment.
At least one so-called "insider" says that talks are already underway.
Lorne hasn't announced any plans to retire, but in an interview a few years ago, he said the show's 50th anniversary would be a good time to bow out. Season 50 begins in the fall of 2024.

A.I. is a huge concern of striking actors and writers. But while they're demanding protections from artificial intelligence, the studios are secretly ramping up their A.I. capabilities, by looking to hire specialists.
For instance, Disney is hiring at least half a dozen A.I. jobs, with six-figure salaries. Netflix recently posted an ad for an A.I. Product Manager position that pays up to $900,000.
Amazon and Apple have DOZENS of jobs open . . . and Sony is looking for an "Ethics engineer" for its Sony A.I. America division.
The kicker is that many companies offering high-paying A.I. jobs have been CUTTING employees in other divisions.
