A Colorado Springs man will go down in history as the first person in the 21st century to push a peanut — using only his nose — up to the summit of Pikes Peak.
Using a contraption taped to his nose, Bob Salem began his journey at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, and made it to the top of Pikes Peak via the Barr Trail around sunrise on Friday, July 15.
Salem is not the first to complete this challenge. The City of Manitou Springs said the most notable person to complete the so-called Peanut Push was Ulysses Baxter in 1963. It took him eight days. In 1929, Bill Williams did the same in about 20 days to earn $500 in a bet, according to The Travel Channel.
Salem said he decided to undertake this challenge to celebrate Manitou Springs’ 150th birthday. The city was founded in 1872 and was incorporated in 1876. Today, about 5,000 people call Manitou Springs home, with many more who visit it often across the greater Colorado Springs area.

The musical actually debuted in the U.K. in 2020. The actors playing Marty and Doc in the teaser are the same ones who were in the U.K. version.

If you're always forgetting things, like the names of people you meet or where you put your keys, here are six things that could make it WORSE . . .
1. Not getting enough sleep. Not sleeping enough can affect your ability to learn new things by up to 40%, and it can affect the hippocampus part of your brain, which is responsible for making new memories.
2. Multitasking. Forgetting things can sometimes be an attention problem . . . so if we're distracted or multitasking, we're more prone to forgetting.
3. Not exercising or moving your body. It increases blood flow to the brain and helps to protect brain cells. Exercise also helps reduce the risk of common illnesses that are linked to memory loss, including high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
4. Drinking alcohol. It can damage brain cells and long-term drinking can cause the brain to decrease in size.
5. Smoking. That includes cigarettes AND marijuana. Smoking can impair lung and heart function, which slows oxygen transport to the brain. And less oxygen in your brain can lead to less brain function and memory loss.
6. Not eating certain foods. If you're looking for foods to boost brain function, opt for leafy vegetables, fatty fish, berries, tea, coffee, and walnuts.

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - The "$1 million" prize on "America's Got Talent" is actually an annuity that's paid out over 40 years. But you can take the current cash value when you win . . . which would be around $300,000, or roughly $150,000 after taxes.
