World Listening Day

A third of Americans were under extreme heat advisories this weekend. That includes half of California, and pretty much the entire South.

The daily high in El Paso, Texas has been at least 100 for a month straight . . . it's been 110 in Phoenix for over two weeks . . . and Miami had its first excessive heat warning ever yesterday.

So here's a question: What's your ideal high temp in summer? Turns out a handful of Americans actually wish they were in Phoenix . . .

Someone asked 1,000 people, and the top answer was somewhere in the 80s with 42% of the vote. The 70s are next with 31%, and 14% said in the 90s.

But for some of us, that's not hot enough. 5% said they enjoy it when it gets over 100 degrees . . . including 2% who claim their ideal high temp is "at least" 110.

Quick summer tip to save you a little money: There's no point in leaving a ceiling fan on unless someone's in the room. Here's why . . .

Fans in general don't cool the air off. They just cool YOU off. So if you leave them on when you're not there, you're just wasting electricity.

Your body cools itself off through the evaporation of sweat. And when air moves across your skin, that happens faster. It also carries heat away from your body. So fans actually cool you down in two different ways.

They don't change the temperature of the air itself though. So unless you're in the room with the fan blowing on you, they don't do much.

The one exception is when you've got a window or door open, and a fan is helping to move new air in. The motor gives off a little heat though. So in some cases, it could actually raise the temperature of the room.

Pets are another reason you might want to leave a fan on when you're not home. Moving the air around cools them down too.

Last tip: You've heard this before, but people forget to do it: Make sure to switch your ceiling fans so they spin COUNTER-clockwise in the summer.

It pushes the cooler air down. If they're running clockwise, they can make a room feel even warmer.

Hostess is selling a new Twinkie / Ding Dong MASH-UP. The inside is like a Twinkie, and the outside is covered in Ding Dong fudge.

They've already been spotted at Walmart. They're being rolled out nationwide this month.

They're a Walmart-only thing for now, but NOT a "limited-time only" thing. Hostess says they'll be a permanent addition to their snack line-up.

The way the word "Mashups" is printed on the box also makes it seem like it's the first of several mashups they could be working on.

Other snacks in their line-up they could mash up include Ho Hos . . . Zingers . . . SnoBalls . . . Donettes . . . Honey Buns . . . Coffee Cakes . . . and those Hostess Cupcakes with the white swirl on the top.

Joe Jonas just did an interview with a radio station in Australia, and he revealed an embarrassing story about something that happened onstage once . . . and it involves an ill-timed bowel movement.

He was performing, and apparently, he thought he could pass a little gas . . . but what came out was MORE than he bargained for . . . and to make matters worse, he was wearing white pants at the time.

He immediately made his way backstage for new pants, and he thinks he got away with it without anyone noticing . . . but some fans may have thought that it was strange because he'd just done a wardrobe change.

He didn't say which show this happened at, but he did say that it was only four years ago, so it's a "fresh" story, and didn't happen in the classic JoBros days.

This is one way to make sure your employer feels your absence after they let you go.

A 25-year-old sales and marketing professional named Marchie is going viral on TikTok for a recent prank she pulled on her office after being laid off.

She printed out a TON of images of herself, and there were speech bubbles where she'd be saying various things. She stuck them everywhere in the office to show that she'd "never actually leave."

The best part is that she numbered them . . . and she skipped some numbers . . . so they'd never think that they've found all of them.

She also shared an image that a former co-worker sent her . . . of them collecting the photos they'd found up on a whiteboard.

Today's Barbie Useless Fact of the Day - According to Mattel, the toy company behind the famous doll, she is from the fictional town of Willows, Wisconsin, where she attended high school.

(or according to a 2015 video she left at the age of 8.)
