A heat wave is a period of unusually hot weather that typically lasts two or more days. To be considered a heat wave, the temperatures have to be outside the historical averages for a given area.

Dress for the weather. Wear lightweight, light colored clothing.

Avoid high-protein foods and meat. Eating these can increase your body’s heat production.

Drink lots of water. Unless you have a condition that is affected by changing how much fluid you drink, it’s a good idea to keep as hydrated as possible.

Find an air-conditioned place to hang out. Don’t have an air conditioner of your own? Find a friend with one, or go to a public place like a library that has one.

Avoid getting too much sun. Sunburns make it harder for your body to cool off.

The Olympics are coming up and the question is..how much do athletes get paid.

Depends on the country.

Athletes who win individual gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics while representing Malaysia, Morocco or Serbia will receive upwards of $200,000 from their country's government or national Olympic committee.

At least six other countries − including Italy, which won 10 golds in Tokyo − are offering payouts north of $100,000. And some offer added perks, like apartments and vacation vouchers, or extra money if an athlete breaks an Olympic record.

For Team USA it's a bit less. Athletes will earn $37,500 for every gold medal in Paris, $22,500 for every silver and $15,000 for each bronze.

If you want to avoid mosquitos, think about having a SOBER summer.  At least two studies have found you're more likely to get bit after drinking beer.

The science is still up in the air about why mosquitos love some people and couldn't care less about others.  But here are a few more things that could be linked to mosquito bites . . .

1.  Bananas.  A study found people were more likely to get bit after eating a banana than after eating grapes.

2.  Really smelly cheese. They might be attracted to a compound produced by bacteria on our skin called carboxylic acid.  (car-bock-sill-ick) It's also found in stinky cheeses, like limburger.

3.  Floral-scented foods and desserts. They're attracted to the smell of nectar-producing plants, so anything floral could have them heading your way.

A few foods that might keep mosquitos AWAY include basil, sage, rosemary, grapefruit, and anything with garlic or onions.

Do you eat Mac-and-Cheese with a FORK . . . a SPOON . . . or a SPORK?  A Reddit poll recently asked the internet, and here are the results . . .

70% of people eat mac-and-cheese with a fork.  24% use a spoon.  And 6% request a spork.

One person said IT DEPENDS . . . on how the mac-and-cheese is served.  They say, "My rule is:  If it's served on a plate I eat it with a fork. If it's served in a bowl I eat it with a spoon."

And someone else asked if the fork-users are LICKING THEIR PLATES.

There was a post where someone said that Squirrel is 100% two syllables.

The response was that it is 1 syllable just like swirl is 1 syllable.

Comments fought it out..and it might depend on where you live in the world

One of the best responses was -

Lots of things become one syllable with enough whiskey.
