Only one movie opening this weekend, the latest Mission: Impossible movie with Tom Cruise. It’s part one..so prepare yourself to wait a year for the conclusion.
It’s titled, Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning and Tom Cruise looks to be on the brink of another blockbuster.
The film is currently projected to rake in over $250 million dollars during its opening weekend, according to Deadline. That would be enough to land the largest box office weekend of the year. That's a pretty good follow up to last summer's Cruise-led blockbuster smash in Top Gun: Maverick. And perhaps Cruise could have the best-selling picture three years running as the sequel to Dead Reckoning is expected to hit theaters in 2024.

Big day in awards Wednesday.
The Emmy nominations were announced.
HBO had the most, with 127.
More than half of those . . . 74 to be exact . . . came from just three shows. "Succession" got the most nominations of any show, with 27. It was followed by "The Last of Us" with 24, and "The White Lotus" with 23.
All three of those shows are up for Best Drama, along with "Andor", "Better Call Saul", "The Crown", "House of the Dragon", and "Yellowjackets".
The Best Comedy nominees are "Abbott Elementary" (one of the only network shows to get noms), "Barry", "The Bear", "Jury Duty", "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel", "Only Murders in the Building", "Ted Lasso", and "Wednesday".
It could also be a big night for the Star Wars franchise as Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Mandalorian received 22 nods in total.
The awards are set to be handed out in September, but that is in jeopardy due to the writers - and possibly actors - strike(s).
AND
The ESPY Awards were given out , ESPN's sports awards, and Patrick Mahomes who quarterbacked the Kansas City Chiefs to the Superbowl win was the best male athlete.
Felame athlete went to Mikaela Shiffrin who became the winningest skier of all time.

Hollywood actors say no deal has been reached with studios and streaming services, and union leaders will vote on whether to strike Thursday. They would join writers who walked out in May over royalty payments, which have declined for both groups as the industry moved to streaming. The Screen Actors Guild and Writers Guild of America haven't been on strike at the same time for 63 years when Ronald Reagan was SAG president.

A website called Numerator followed the top Prime Day purchases by tracking tens-of-thousands of customers, and over 100,000 orders. Here are a few stats on what we bought, and how much we spent . . .
The hottest item this year was apparently Temptations Cat Treats. That's based on the number of units purchased.
The rest of the top five were
Amazon Fire sticks
Liquid I.V. hydration packets
toys from the company Melissa & Doug
beauty products by the brand Laneige. (luh-NAYGE)
Around 80% of all Prime Day shoppers were women. 24% of Prime Day shoppers were seniors. That's higher than any other age group.

Baseball, a sport with a lot of standing still, feels uniquely suited to mindfulness. So, it makes sense that more and more pros have started walking barefoot in the lush outfield grass before games. Christian Walker, the Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman who started the practice he calls earthing, enjoys feeling the sun on his skin and "just kind of [being] in the moment," which we think is beautiful.

A bird known to live in swamps and marshes in Florida has recently been spotted in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
The bird species known as the limpkin is usually found in warm, subtropical climates, with its habitats in the United States generally being limited to Florida. But over the past several years it has been spotted stretching further and further north
Staff at the Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area said that the bird reaching this far north may be related to the trend of “limpkin explosion,” where younger birds are expanding beyond their normal habitats. This may be caused by a number of factors, potentially including habitat loss and climate change.

The latest data shows that the average wedding costs $29,000, which probably won't surprise anyone who's gotten married recently. But it is more than DOUBLE what the average wedding cost 30 years ago.
And that's a BARGAIN for people in some big cities, where the costs can easily soar past $35,000. For example, the average wedding in New York City will run you $44,000. In the Bay Area, it's $37,000, and in Boston it's $36,000.
The only notable thing that costs LESS than before the pandemic is the GROOM'S ATTIRE, which is down 3% from 2019.
The average guest list in 2022 was 117 guests . . . and experts say it could be lower this year, because there's a trend of prioritizing more intimate ceremonies. Which should cut costs a bit.
