No other monarch in British history has achieved 70 years of service.

The Queen (Elizabeth II), then aged 25, acceded to the throne on February 6, 1952 on the death of her father, King George VI.

She became the longest-reigning British monarch in 2015, beating the time spent on the throne by her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria, who ruled for 63 years, seven months.

It all culminates in a four-day national bank holiday weekend from Thursday, June 2 until Sunday, June 5, known as the Platinum Jubilee Weekend. In the UK, royal celebrations are typically held in the summer to allow for better weather.

The festivities kicked off this morning with the Queen's birthday parade, known as Trooping the Colour.

Saturday, several royal family members are expected to head to Epsom Downs racecourse in the afternoon for the 243rd edition of its famous horse race, the Derby.

Later a two-and-a-half hour "Platinum Party At The Palace" concert will see a star-studded line up take to three stages built in front of Buckingham Palace and the famous Queen Victoria Memorial. Queen + Adam Lambert, Alicia Keys and Diana Ross are among the artists set to perform their biggest hits at the show, which will be broadcast live by the BBC and looks like it will be on Hulu Sunday.

For 60 years, Ted Sams regretted missing his high school graduation.

Now 78, Sams can finally call himself a graduate after donning a cap and gown and receiving his diploma Friday with the class of 2022 at Southern California's San Gabriel High School.

Back in 1962 when he was a high school senior, Sams got in trouble and was suspended five days before the end of the school year. He said he missed a crucial final exam and had to make it up over the summer.

"When I went back with my grade, they wouldn't give me my diploma because I owed $4.80 for a book, and so I just walked away and said forget it."

The school still had Sams' original diploma locked away in an old filing cabinet. He beamed as he walked across the graduation stage at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena and received the diploma.

"Over the years, I complained to my kids a number of times about how $4.80 kept me from having my diploma," he said.

Sams said he plans on hanging the diploma on a wall at his home.

The newly released fourth season of “Stranger Things” shattered Netflix’s record for an opening weekend, as viewers watched nearly 287 million hours of the ’80s sci-fi series.

The previous record for an opening weekend was 193 million viewing hours, set by “Bridgerton” in March. After three days, “Stranger Things 4” was already nearly halfway to breaking the record for Netflix’s most watched English-language series of all time over its first month of release, set by “Bridgerton” at 656 million viewing hours. On top of that, “Stranger Things 4” has two more episodes arriving in July.

There's a thread online where people are sharing the cooking "rules" that they ALWAYS ignore . . . like "don't put pepper on steak, because it'll just burn." Here are a few that people mentioned:

1. Throwing out a whole block of cheese when there's a little mold on it.

2. Using olive oil while cooking, instead of cheaper oils with higher smoke-points.

3. Don't cook with wine, tomatoes, or anything acidic in cast iron pans.

4. Don't eat uncooked cookie dough.

5. Unsalted butter in a recipe. Some people say they use salted ALL the time.

6. Fresh herbs in a recipe. Subbing in dried herbs is easier, and cheaper.

7. Measuring dried spices. It can be a nice guide, but spice-level is subjective.

8. Using a particular color of onion. Some just use whatever they have on hand.

9. Sifting flour.

10. Don't mix seafood and cheese.

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - The highest-grossing media franchise is . . . "Pokemon". The movies have "only" made about $1.5 billion, but the retail sales have topped $100 billion. "Hello Kitty" is second, "Mickey Mouse & Friends" is third, and "Star Wars" is fourth.
