Why do we fight on vacation??? According to Kalley Hartman, the clinical director at Ocean Recovery and a licensed marriage and family therapist, one of the primary reasons has to do with inflated expectations.

“We may have a vision of spending time together in perfect harmony and enjoying all sorts of activities,” Hartman said. “But the reality can be quite different. It’s important to keep our expectations realistic and understand that disagreements can still arise even when we are away from our daily routines.”

Poor communication is also a big contributor. A lack of communication, or having to find new ways to communicate because you’re in a different environment together, can cause tension that flares up into full blown arguments.

Part of that tension is also often due to spending more time together with your travel partner(s) than you’re used to.

“Being in close, forced proximity to one another can be a challenge,” Hartman said. “Especially if you’re used to having your own space at home. This can lead to feelings of frustration and irritability, which can trigger fights.”

What causes it? Some of the issues are Poor Planing, Unbalanced power dynamic, disrupted routine, conflicting expectations, and incongruent travel styles.

So be flexible, talk it out, get some rest, and plan ahead.

We're closing in on wedding season again and Slate.com has come up with a list of "new rules" to make weddings a little less unbearable.

Here are a few of the their suggestions for "new rules":

1. No more engagement parties.

2. No outdoor summer weddings.

3. Your closest friends, not you, should control the guest list.

4. It is entirely fine to deny anyone a plus-one for any reason.

5. Never say “black tie optional.” Choose.

6. It is fine to skip a wedding for any reason, but RSVP early.

7. No kids. If kids are needed for the ceremony, a car should be waiting.

8. If you travel from out of town, you don't need to get the couple a gift . . . actually, all gifts should be banned.

9. It's fine if someone else wears white.

10. No one has to walk you down the aisle.

11. Give us a good kiss.

12. Posed photos are over.

13. Simplify the menu: Just make your vegetarian option vegan.

14. Speeches must be pre-written.

15. Dancing is mandatory for everyone able.

Ed Sheeran has been in court defending himself against claims that his hit "Thinking Out Loud" is a rip-off of Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On". And this week, he raised the stakes.

Ed's lawyer asked him what he would do if the court rules against him. And he said, quote, "If that happens, I'm done, I'm stopping. I find it to be really insulting. I work really hard to be where I'm at."

Ed also got snippy with the plaintiff's lawyer at one point, saying, quote, "You're trying to diminish my success. 'Thinking Out Loud' was my first Grammy."

He should play it on Idol this weekend when he is filling in with Alanis Morissette.

The competition show Dancing With the Stars has been greenlit for its 32nd season, but after just one exclusive run on Disney+, the series is set to make a return to ABC.

While representatives for Disney declined to comment on the show's return to terrestrial television, the idea is that the move is in response, at least in part, to the Writer's Guild of America (WGA) strike against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), according to Variety.

With scripted television shows hanging in the balance as the two sides wrangle over a contract, the expectation is that reality TV will once again be on the rise.

A previous strike that began in late 2007 and lasted until February 2008 was responsible for a reality boom in the late-2000s.

The DWTS move to streaming had led to an expected drop to about 44.5 million households, with fewer people having access to the streaming platform, compared to the 120 million households that had the show on ABC.

New app alert...for your dog.

Dog parks are a great way for pooches to socialize, but they can also be overwhelming to dogs who are shy, overcoming behavior challenges, or dealing with past traumas such as another dog attacking them or neglect or abuse in a former home. The founder of Sniffspot said his own dog's struggles at dog parks inspired him to start the Airbnb-like app, which lets users rent out their backyards and other spaces to people looking for private off-leash areas for their dogs to play.

We talked about scams the other day, and here's a new one, it just happened to a mom in Arizona named Jennifer DeStefano. She got a call from a weird number. And when she picked up, she heard her 15-year-old daughter SOBBING on the other end.

It was so convincing, she never even questioned if it was real or not. Her daughter said, "Mom, I messed up." Then she could hear her crying in the background, and a man said he'd take her to Mexico if he didn't get $1 million. When she said she didn't have that much, he said $50,000.

Jennifer was at her other kid's dance class when it happened, and other parents who were listening in freaked out. One called 911 while another called Jennifer's husband.

Thankfully, he was able to confirm their daughter was safe. She was upstairs in her bedroom, totally fine. The whole thing lasted about four minutes.

Cloning someone's voice is really easy now. You only need a three or four-second clip of them to do it. So even a short TikTok video would be enough.

Experts say all you can do is be suspicious about any calls coming from a weird number. And question anyone who's pressuring you to send money right away.

A reporter talked to a professor at Arizona State who specializes in A.I. He said that unfortunately, you can't even trust your own ears anymore.

A new study challenged the creativity of chatbots by asking six of them . . . including ChatGPT . . . stuff like: "How many uses for a FORK can you think of?" They also asked about toothbrushes, pants, and tires.

Then, they asked a bunch of humans the same questions.

Chatbots were able to come up with more possibilities than 90% of humans . . . and there were plenty of creative responses from the bots, like how forks could be used for: Making a sculpture . . . cleaning under your fingernails . . . and using them to fight off zombies.

They did get a little TOO creative in some instances, claiming forks could be helpful in removing ear wax . . . propping up a book . . . and playing "Tag".

Copy.ai suggested that one, and explained, "You could play tag where everyone has to find each other with a fork before they get eaten by a bear."

As for toothbrushes, the bots suggested they could be used for: Exfoliating your skin and applying hair dye, which are acceptable . . . but there was also stranger stuff, like cleaning bird poo off a car and "combing pet fur."

Experts believe that bots like these can be used for creative thinking . . . but they do acknowledge that ChatGPT has limited EMOTIONAL capabilities.

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - "Sinister" comes from a Latin word meaning "on the left side." It's a remnant of the outdated association between left-handed people and wickedness.
